Bhubaneswar: Tamil Nadu sprinter S Dhanalakshmi beat national record holder Dutee Chand from Odisha in women’s 100 metre final to emerge champion in the Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championships held in Patiala of Punjab on Tuesday.
While Dhanalakshmi clocked 11.39 second to bag the gold medal, Dutee finished with 11.58 second. Another Tamil Nadu sprinter, Archana Suseendran was third in 11.76.
But neither Dutee nor Dhanalakshmi came close to the Olympic qualification mark of 11.15 second.
Hima Das, who was running in the shorter race instead of her favourite 400m, was disqualified after a false start.
