Bhubaneswar: Demanding action against private schools for flouting the High Court order on waiver of school fees, activists of Odisha Pradesh Chhatra Congress gheraoed the official residence of School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Tuesday.
The student activists took out a rally from the Congress Bhawan and arrived at the residence of the minister. They had a scuffle with the police while trying to barge into his residence.
Police later detained several activists.
Talking to the media, the Congress activities said that private schools have been flouting the court’s directive and forcibly collecting the fees.
The agitators said that they had come to meet the minister and request him to initiate stern action against such schools.
