Hyderabad: Vijay Deverakonda opened up about his personal life at a promotional event for ‘Romanchakam’, produced by Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s brother Pranay Reddy Vanga.
From falling in love to experiencing heartbreak and eventually getting married, the actor reflected on some of the major moments of his life.
At the event, when the host asked Vijay about the most “romanchakam” moment of 2026, the actor said, “‘89 lo puttina, appatnunchi romanchakam ee asalu…’89 nunchi every year. Pocket lo dabbulu unna, lekapoina Blenders Pride taagina, Glenfiddich taagina. Mandu vadilesina (I was born in 1989, and it has been thrilling every year. Irrespective of whether I had money in my pocket, I would drink Blenders Pride and Glenfiddich. I gave up drinking).”
While Vijay did not reveal what prompted him to quit drinking, he opened up about his past and shared some rare personal details.
“I fell in love. Got heartbroken, and I got married. No matter what, it has been thrilling,” he said.

Sandeep couldn’t hold back his laughter and later applauded as Vijay summed up his life in a few words.
Fans also asked Vijay about Rashmika, whom they affectionately call their “vadinamma” (sister-in-law), as she continues to recover from a hip injury.
“Your sister-in-law? She’s fine. She got injured but is recovering and enjoying at home,” he said.
On the work front, Rashmika was last seen in ‘Cocktail 2’ earlier this year. She will next be seen in Ravindra Pulle’s action thriller ‘Mysaa’, for which she suffered a hip injury while filming a song.
Vijay, meanwhile, was last seen in ‘Kingdom’. He will next star in Ravi Kiran Kola’s action drama ‘Rowdy Janardhana’, alongside Keerthy Suresh, and also has an untitled project with Shouryuv.
Vijay and Rashmika will reunite on screen after several years in Rahul Sankrityan’s period action film ‘Ranabaali’, which is scheduled to release on October 16.
Meanwhile, ‘Romanchakam’ will arrive in theatres on September 3.
