Bhubaneswar: Family members of a 20-year-old engineering student, who allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in front of his female friend in Odisha capital, have lodged a complaint with Chandaka police suspecting that the girl might have forced him to take the extreme step.
The deceased has been identified as Ratikant Das of Khurda.
According to the complaint, the girl telephoned Ratikant’s younger brother around 12.40 pm on Sunday and informed him about the incident. Stating that his condition was critical, she asked him to reach Capital Hospital here.
On arriving at the hospital, they got to know about this death.
The complainant further said that the girl and her two associates, who were present at the hospital, must be aware of the truth behind the incident and therefore, should be brought under the purview of investigation.
The girl and Ratikant had been chatting over the phone for the last two years, they added.
