Nagaon: A female police official lodged an FIR against his fiancé which led to his arrest.
The reason? He turned out to be a fraudster.
Junmoni Rabha, a sub-inspector in Assam’s Nagaon, had been in a relationship with Rana Pogag for over a year and the duo got engaged in October 2021.
Junmoni later came to know Rana’s claim that he was an employee with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Assam was false. He also allegedly took money from a number of people promising to provide them jobs in ONGC only to dupe them.
He introduced his parents to the police official and proposed to marry her, before luck ran out and his lies were exposed.
“He is such a big fraud and I thank the person who gave me the information. I have been in a relationship for one year and we got engaged in October last year. He lied to me that he was posted at Silchar and when I asked him why he is not joining work, he told me I don’t understand the work and that I want him to go away,” said Junmoni.
This aroused Junmoni’s suspicion.
Once she came to know of Rana’s true colours, Junmoni herself filed an FIR. It didn’t take long for police to nab Rana.
Assam police seized a fake ONGC identity card, two laptops, 13 seals, nine passbooks and checkbooks, two mobile phones, one pen drive and two walkie talkies from the accused.
