Bhubaneswar: The flea market/night bazaar at the second edition of DoT FEST at Ekamra Haat in Odisha capital, which is being held on the sidelines of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, saw a business of over Rs 50 lakh in the first week with a daily footfall of 7,000.
With the night bazaar turning out to be a huge success, the number of visitors is expected to touch 10,000 this week. “The overall turnover of the market from January 15 has already touched Rs 52 lakh and is set to increase further. The market is recording daily business of Rs 8-9 lakh,” a Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) official was quoted as saying
The night flea market, having 120 stalls, will remain open for visitors between 5 pm and 12 am every day till January 29.
A wide range of handicrafts and handloom products at 34 stalls of Utkalika, wooden articles, jewellery, creative/fancy items, scarves/stoles for women, and many such items are drawing a huge crowd.
Notably, if the sales of Utkalika are included, the overall turnover exceeded Rs 60 lakh last week, the official added.
Besides, stalls including Urbanomad, Punjab Jutti store, Tanveer from Himachal, Traditional Aura-Varanasi and Red Ochre are a favourite with the visitors.
