The duo rewrote several records in the course of arguably the greatest final in World Cup history.
Apart from the Argentine and French superstars, Google also set a massive record during the mega clash at Doha’s Lusail Stadium.
Google search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the FIFA World Cup final.
“Search recorded its highest ever traffic in 25 years during the final of #FIFAWorldCup, it was like the entire world was searching about one thing!” Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai tweeted on Monday.
Messi, Mbapppe and FIFA World Cup final dominated the social media also, and were the top Twitter trend all evening as the world tuned into the Argentina versus France blockbuster and searched for information about the players and teams.
Even though India is far from being a major footballing nation, interest in the sport and World Cup is immense.
The FIFA World Cup in Qatar was the third-most searched topic in India, according to Google’s ‘Year In Search 2022’ report released recently.
