Cuttack: The Odisha Police have strengthened the phone-based system for redressal of public grievances. The step has been taken in view of the difficulties faced by the people in visiting the police stations or district police office to present their grievance in person relating to lockdown or other matters.
This was discussed during a video conferencing by the Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay with district SPs DCPs at the State Police Headquarters here on Friday.
The decisions taken at the video conferencing are as follows.
—Each district police headquarters having a functional police control room will have one or more phone lines for people to lodge their grievance. Depending on the volume of work, arrangements are being made to engage more personnel and more phone lines.
— The phone number of the District Control Room has been publicised through Twitter, Facebook and press releases.
—Each police station has publicised its landline number and CUG (closed user group) cell number through Twitter, Facebook, press release etc.
—It has been ensured that the phones are functioning and personnel are earmarked to attend the call and take appropriate action at the police station level.
— The district SPs and DCPs are personally reviewing the functioning of phone-based redressal of public grievance at the police station and district levels.
—The phone numbers of such district-level control room and police stations have been uploaded on the Odisha Police website www.odishapolice.gov.in
