Jagatsinghpur: Veteran Gandhian Anna Hazare, who is on a three-day
visit to Odisha, requested the farmers to fight for their rights and
resort to protest, but in peaceful ways.
Addressing a gathering of thousands of farmers at Jai Kishan Samabesh
organized by Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) on the occasion of the
birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Nabakrushna Choudhury in
Jagatsinghpur, Anna criticized the state government for neglecting the
farming community and protecting the interests of
industrialists.
“The schedule for holding farmers’ rallies in eight states of the
country has been finalized. The programmes for other states will be
worked out soon”, Hazare said.
The Gandhian leader advised the people, especially youths, to refrain
from alcohol consumption.
Among others, NKS national convenor Akshay Kumar, advisor Soumya
Ranjan Patnaik and senior journalist Rabi Das were present in the
meeting.
