Fighting COVID-19: Doubling Rate Improves To 11 Days, Odisha Doing Even Better

New Delhi: Even as the number of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases and death toll continues to rise in India, there is a silver lining — the doubling rate of positive cases, has improved to 11.3 days. Prior to the lockdown, cases were doubling in 3.4 days.

According to joint secretary, Union Health ministry, Lav Aggarwal, Odisha is among 16 states which are performing better than the national average.

The doubling rate in Odisha, Delhi, UP, J & K, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Punjab are 11-20 days.

In Karnataka, Ladakh, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Kerala, cases are doubling between 20 and 40 days, while in Assam, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh, it’s above 40 days.

In the last 24 hours, 1,718 new cases of coronavirus have been reported across the country, taking the total number of cases to 33,050. The death toll stands at 1074.
