Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fire Service department will soon be starting PCR type pre-positioning of quick response unit vehicles (207 types) in the state to attend inaccessible/narrow approach roads like unit 1, 2, 4 in Bhubaneswar, Chhatra Bazaar in Cuttack, etc. promptly.
This move will help in fighting fires more efficiently as bigger vehicles face problems due to constricted access.
It is part of public outreach to provide effective service under Mo Sarkar and 5T mandate.
Such facility is available in Mumbai, but it wasn’t there in Odisha.
One unit will be initially deployed during evening hours (6-9.30 pm).
“We will be putting 5 units exclusively for Kalpana and Secretariat FSsand 5 units at Cuttack city,” said DGP Fire Services SK Upadhyay.
