FIH Pro League: Toppers India End Bhubaneswar Leg With Another Win Vs Germany

Bhubaneswar: The Indian men’s hockey team, led by Odisha’s Amit Rohidas, signed off their home leg in Odisha’s capital with another impressive win versus Germany.

Having outplayed the European powerhouse 3-0 at Kalinga Stadium here on Thursday night, India emerged 3-1 winners in a thrilling match at the same venue.

Sukhjit Singh scored a field goal three minutes into the second quarter to give the home team a narrow lead at half-time. Varun Kumar capitalized on a penalty corner in the 40th minute to make it 2-0, but Anton Boeckl pulled one back in the closing stages of the third quarter.

An aggressive India showed their intent by sealing victory with a field goal from Abhishek in the 53rd minute.

India remained top of the 9-team table with 27 points from 12 matches.

India have a two-month break before travelling to Europe to play their last four league games. They will face Belgium at Antwerp on June 11 and 12, followed by a double-header against The Netherlands on June 18 and 19 at Rotterdam.
