Bhubaneswar: Director and choreographer Sudhakar Basant sustained critical injuries when the car in which he was travelling crashed into truck near Manguli Square in Choudwar area of Odisha’s Cuttack district in early hours of Sunday.
According to sources, the car rammed into a cement-laden truck parked along the road, owing to the possible dense fog and low visibility conditions, which he was returning from Baripada. Basant, trapped in the vehicle severely mangled under the impact of the collision, was rescued by Fire Services personnel, using cutter, and rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment. His condition is stated to be critical.
The driver also sustained grievous injuries in the accident, which took place around 3.3o am. His assistant director, Raghu, who was sleeping in the backseat escaped with minor injuries.
