Dhenkanal: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal will be hosting ‘Filmi Chakkar 4.0’ in January 2023.
The three-day mega film event will bring together film critics, academicians and movie enthusiasts from across the state and beyond. They will engage in an intensive examination of the art of film.
The theme for the fourth edition of Filmi Chakkar – which is being held after a two-year gap due to COVID-19 pandemic — is ‘Stardom as a phantasmal reality.’
The event includes a two-day national conference comprising three plenary sessions with three invited plenary speakers, along with screening of films and documentaries, and an exclusive exhibition of film magazine covers.
Those who attend the sessions will have the opportunity to listen to experts and academicians from across India and engage in lively discussions about the history and role of stardom in cinema, focusing primarily on the development of cinematic language around the concept of ‘Stardom.’
Dr Piyush Roy, a national award-winning film critic, writer and teacher, will curate and conduct a film appreciation workshop where participants will learn about the art of film appreciation, along with fundamental concepts and conventions in analysing film texts.
On successful completion of the workshop, participants will be provided with a certificate from IIMC, Dhenkanal.
