Bhubaneswar: The final voter list in Odisha for the forthcoming elections will be published on January 21, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar on Thursday.
“The process of electoral roll revision is underway and the final list will be published on January 21, Kumar told the media here.
Giving details about poll related programmes, he said a mock poll will be conducted in each village from January 7. Apart from this, seven vans will tour each constituency in the state for a month to show people how to use the voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines.
Stating that about 12 lakh voters have been included in the revised voter list, of which five lakh are new voters and two lakh are physically challenged, the CEO said till now, a total of 4,59,042 people have applied for inclusion of their name in the voter list. Informing that there are a total of 37,606 polling booths in the state, Kumar said the number of booths will most likely increase.
Confirming that there is sufficient stock of EVMs and VVPATs in the state, he said training of the polling officials will be completed by February 25 while a conference of the senior police officers will be held from January 5.
