Hyderabad: An FIR has been registered against star actor Allu Arjun and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy for violating the Model Code of Conduct during the ongoing elections.
They have been accused of allowing a large public gathering at the MLA’s residence in Nandyal, ahead of Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, which was seen as a violation of poll code set in place by Election Commission of India.
Reddy allegedly invited Telugu cinema superstar Allu Arjun without permission for the gathering on Saturday.
A case was lodged for violating Section 144, which is in place in Andhra Pradesh as the state goes to polls on May 13.
Videos of fan frenzy around Allu Arjun flooded social media platform X:
Deputy Tehsildar P Ramachandra Rao of Nandyal Rural, assigned to oversee elections at Nandyal constituency, registered the case.
As social media was abuzz with rumours about Allu’s political leanings, the actor clarified after meeting Reddy amid huge fan fare that he visited Nandyal to help his friend and doesn’t support any political party.
“I came here on my own. Among my friends, in whichever field they are in, I will step up and help them if they need my help. It doesn’t mean I am backing or supporting any political party,” Allu told newspersons.
