FIR Lodged Against Orry And Seven Others For Consuming Alcohol Near Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine

Jammu: A hunt has been launched for eight persons, including socialite and social media sensation Orry and three women, who allegedly consumed alcohol at a star resort at Katra in Jammu’s Reasi. Katra is a tehsil in the Reasi district. It is the location from where the Yatra to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine starts.

Consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food is strictly banned in Katra and surrounding areas, as per government rules. An FIR was lodged against the accused by the manager of the Katra Marriott Resort & Spa, where the eight had put up. They allegedly consumed alcohol even after being told of the restrictions.

Orry, known to be quite close to Bollywood celebrities, recently uploaded a photograph, showing him enjoying with friends. Liquor bottles are visible in the photograph. However, it is not known whether it was clicked during his visit to Katra.

“A team constituted under the supervision of SP, Katra, Deputy SP, Katra and SHO, Katra, has been directed to track the culprits. They have violated the law of the land and shown disrespect to the religious sentiments of people. This is a serious offence,” Paramvir Singh, SSP, Reasi, said.

According to the manager of the resort, the eight, identified by him as Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina, were consuming alcohol inside a cottage suite within the premises on March 15. They were requested by the staff to abstain from the act due to strict regulations that are in place. The eight refused to comply though.

An FIR (No 72/25) has been registered at the Katra police station. Authorities have said that there is zero-tolerance towards such acts, where consumption of alcohol and narcotics is concerned at religious places. This hurts the religious sentiments of the masses and can cause public disturbance.
