FIR Lodged Against Punjab CM Charanjit Channi; Know Why

Ludhiana: Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi has been booked along with Sidhu Moosewala, a Congress candidate for the Punjab assembly elections.

Both Channi and Moosewala, who is fighting from Mansa constituency, violated the model code of conduct ahead of the February 20 polls in the state, reported PTI.

An FIR lodged against the duo said they were found campaigning in Mansa after the 6 pm deadline on Friday, the last day for campaigning.

They have been booked under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of IPC.

The case was lodged on a complaint by Aam Aadmi Party’s Malsa candidate Vijay Singla.
