Bhubaneswar A minor fire broke out at the BMC Keshari Mall near the Market Building area in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The blaze was spotted on the first and second floors of the shopping mall. Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, a short circuit in the battery room on the second floor is suspected to have caused the fire, sources said.
Personnel from the fire station at Kalpana Square was rushed to the spot but the occupants of the mall could douse the flames before they arrived as it was a minor accident, the sources said, adding that the loss of property in the mishap is being assessed.
This is the second instance of a fire mishap at the mall in less than 2 months. On April 15, four dress stores, a beauty parlour and other shops were gutted. No loss of life was then reported as the mall was closed when the accident took place.
