Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out at the Keshari Mall near Market Building in Odisha’s capital on Friday night. No one was injured in the incident.
An electrical short-circuit is suspected to have started the fire but the exact cause is under investigation. The mall, which closes around 10 pm, has several garments shops.
Security guards saw smoke coming out of the mall and called fire services.
According to reports, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will probe the cause of the fire as well as whether the mall was equipped with functioning fire-prevention facilities.
Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena reached the spot to take stock of the situation. A joint inspection will be carried out by the police, fire department, CESU and BMC, he said.
