Bhubaneswar: Two shops were reduced to ashes and one was damaged partially after a major fire broke out at a market complex near Rasulgarh Square in the city on Sunday. There was no casualty.
According to sources, fire broke out in a shop selling vehicle spare parts in the market complex and spread to nearby shops at around 3.30 pm when their owners had gone for lunch. The locals noticed the flame coming out of the shops and informed the Fire Brigade.
Fire personnel with two firefighting vehicles rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Though the exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, a short circuit of electricity in one of the shops is suspected.
The goods worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in the incident. However, 20 other shops in the market complex could be saved from the blaze as the Fire personnel could control it in time, said the locals.
