Balangir: A major fire broke out at State Bank of India’s (SBI) branch at Kantabanji in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday, creating panic among staff and customers.
As per preliminary information, the fire erupted when employees of the bank as well as several customers were present inside the branch. No one was reported to have been hurt in the incident.
Soon after noticing the flame, the bank staff swung into action to control the fire. Fire Service personnel were also informed about the incident.
While the fire was suspected to have been triggered by an electric short circuit, the exact cause was yet to be ascertained.
The extent of damage caused by the fire is being ascertained.
