Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out in the Cuttack-Palasa Passenger train, which had to be halted near Odisha’s Khurda on Thursday.
According to reports, the train’s engine caught fire between Khurda and Retang stations.
At least four coaches of the passenger train, which had departed from Kataka at 4.20 pm, suffered damage due to the fire.
The incident triggered panic among passengers, many of whom got down from the train and started walking towards the next station.
No injury has been reported.
Preliminary information suggests that a short-circuit sparked the fire.
Senior officials of East Coast Railway rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
“The train will resume its journey after the arrival of another engine,” said an official.
