Jajpur: A massive fire broke out in a petrochemical plant in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday evening.
According to sources, some employees of Gajanan Petrochemical plant at Batijanga under Dharmasala police station in the district first saw the fire in a section of the factory at around 5 pm. They immediately informed the Fire Brigade and themselves tried to douse the flames.
By the time Fire Brigade arrived at the spot, fire had spread to vas area of the plant. The Fire personnel struggled to bring the inferno under control due to highly inflammable petroleum products spread across the factory.
The employees of the plant had a narrow escape as very few of them were present inside when the fire broke out. Nobody has been injured in the incident. But properties worth of lakhs of rupees have been damaged in the fire.
The cause of the fire has not been ascertained as the it was yet to be totally extinguished when the report was filed.
