Ghaziabad: A fire broke out in the generator and luggage compartment of Swarn Shatabdi Express at Ghaziabad railway station around 7 am on Saturday.
“The fire was doused within half an hour after our fire tenders started operation within minutes of reaching the spot. The last coach of the train was affected,” said Chief Fire Officer (Ghaziabad) Sunil Kumar Singh.
A Railway spokesperson said the cause of the fire in Lucknow-bound train is unknown and will be investigated. There were no reports of any casualty. “The affected coach was detached and the train was allowed to leave around 6.50 am,” the spokesperson added.
Earlier on March 13, a fire broke out in a coach of Delhi-Dehradun Shatabdi Express near Kansro in Uttarakhand.
