Berhampur: Fire broke out in Taratarini temple at Purusottampur in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday where people had gathered in large numbers on the occasion of Maha Saptami for a darshan of the deity.
Soon, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
According to reports, fire started in the ‘deepa ghara’ (a room where earthen lamps are lit) around 11 am and spread to adjacent rooms. However, no one was injured. Property within the room was gutted in the blaze, informed sources.
Ganjam Collector Tweeted: “A small fire accident took place at Dip Ghar of Maa Taratarini temple. Immediately fire was controlled by Fire Department. No damage For temple. Jai Maa Taratarini”
