Kolkata: At least three persons were killed and 44 others suffered injuries after a fire that broke out in Haldia Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation in West Bengal’s Purba Medinipur district on Tuesday.
The incident occurred when shutdown related works were being carried out. “The primary cause seems to be a flash fire leading to burn injuries to 44 persons and three have unfortunately succumbed to their injuries,” it said.
The fire was brought under control soon after, stated reports in PTI. Of the 44 injured, 37 have been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata, stated reports.
Condition of seven persons is stated to be critical.
