Odisha: Worker Suffers 70% Burns In SMC Power Plant Mishap

Jharsuguda: A youth sustained critical burn injuries in an alleged fire mishap at SMC Power Generation Ltd plant in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Sunday night.

According to sources, a hot iron ingot fell on Mahabir Majhi, a worker at the plant. He suffered 70% burns.

He was rushed to VIMSAR in Burla and later shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH), Rourkela, in critical condition.

Alleging violation of safety rules, the workers said authorities have remained unconcerned despite frequent accidents at the plant.
