Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government’s fire services wing on Monday begun conducting simultaneous raids at different commercial establishments in the capital city to find out the level of preparedness to prevent a mishap.
Official sources said the fire services wing has formed 13 teams to visit 26 locations. In the first phase, the teams would among others check fire safety measures adopted at major business enterprises like Hotel Suryansh at Chandrasekharpur, Hotel Empires at Saheed Nagar, Hotel Crown at Nayapalli, Ms Kalyani Jewellers at Vani Vihar, Lalchand Jewellers at Master Canteen, Panda Lifestyle at Saheed Nagar, BMC Keshari Mall at Unit II, Hotel Presidency at Nayapally, Mehers at Kharvela Nagar, Satyam Shivam Sundaram at Kharvela Nagar, Bazaar Kolkata Shopping Centre at Bapuji Nagar, FBB Shopping Mall at Kharvela Nagar and Alishan at Kharvela Nagar, sources informed.
Director general (fire services) Bijay Kumar Sharma told Odishabytes.com: “Our focus is on market complexes, star hotels and garment shops in Bhubaneswar. We have also brought under the scanner commercial establishments in Cuttack and Berhampur as these cities have witnessed fire accidents in recent times.”
