Bhubaneswar: In wake of the death of the 23 students in a devastating fire in a coaching centre in Surat, the personnel of the Odisha Fire Services department on Monday raided such centres in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Informing the media, Fire Services DG B K Sharma said that the raids are being conducted by the 22 teams on 14 centres in Bhubaneswar and eight in Cuttack to check whether fire safety measures are in place.
Appropriate action would be taken against the owners of coaching centres if found guilty of any violation, he added.
The 14 coaching centres in Bhubaneswar where the raid is underway are Akash Institute (Aditya Plaza) in Unit-IV, Samal Class in Forest Park; Akash Institute at Parthasarathi Complex in Madhusudan Nagar; Navodaya Forum in Madhusudan Nagar; Education Asia, Janardan House in Saheed Nagar; Vanik in Saheed Nagar; Allen, Career Institute, Triplex Building, Sainik School Road; Mahindras in Baramunda; Adyant at the District Centre in Chandrasekharpur; FiiTJee at Infinia Tower in Chandrasekharpur; Narayan School in Chandrasekharpur; Bajirao IAS Academy in Jayadev Vihar; FiitJee (near Exhibition Ground) in Unit-III and Vinayak at the District Centre in Chandrasekharpur.
