Bhubaneswar: Fire engulfed a government quarters at Unit-II in Odisha capital after firecrackers stored in a room exploded early on Thursday morning.
According to sources, firecrackers were being manufactured illegally in the quarters allotted to Niranjan Lenka, an employee of Lok Seva Bhawan here. It is still unknown if the allottee was residing there or had rented it out to someone else. Though no casualty was reported, the quarters suffered extensive damage in the inferno.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames before it could spread to neighbouring quarters.
