Cuttack: Police seized firecrackers worth over Rs 50 lakh during raids at Trilochanpur and Mahajanpur villages near Jagatpur in Cuttack district in the wee hours of Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, a 10-member team of Jagatsinghpur police station led by the IIC raided the two villages along with four platoons of additional forces and seized huge quantities of fire crackers, gunpowder and iron powder. They also arrested 12 persons for illegally trading in firecrackers.
Last year too, police had seized huge quantities of firecrackers from these two villages.
