Khurda The Khurda police on Friday released a photo of the suspect in the December 15 firing incident at Badashakha market in the town.
A paediatrician and a medicine shop owner were shot at by an unidentified man from point blank range at a clinic on Khurda-Nayagarh road on the fateful day. The medicine store owner, Kurshna Chandra Sahoo, later succumbed to the injures. The paediatrician, Manas Ranjan Das, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar A retired Government doctor, he ran a private clinic at his residence while Sahoo had a medicine shop in the same building.
Khurda SP Ajay Pratap Swain also announced cash reward for those who can give information on the assailant. “Identity of the informer will be kept secret,” he said.
The SP further said that four teams are probing the incident.
“The doctor is recuperating slowly. He can shed more light on the incident once he gets well completely,” he said.
Primary investigation revealed that the assailant was hired by someone to execute the crime, he said, adding that the exact reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained.
The assailant was captured in the CCTV camera at the clinic. A man with his face covered with a monkey cap was seen at the clinic around 6.20 pm on December 15. He removed his shoes, went inside the doctor’s chamber and fired on him. He shot at Sahoo when he confronted him, police had earlier said,
