Moscow: The first batch of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine has been produced, a report from news agency Reuters said.
It may be recalled that Russia had rolled out a vaccine developed by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute on August 11, which was approved and ready for use. This is the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine that has been approved for public use.
The Reuters report said Russia would roll out the Gamaleya Institute-developed vaccine by the end of August. The previous announcement was that the vaccine would be ready for public use by September and mass inoculations by October.
The vaccine went through phase-I and phase-II testing in superfast time. The entire process of the two phases was completed in less than two months, when vaccines usually take several months, sometimes years, to complete these trials.
