First Coronavirus Re-Infection In Bengaluru As 27-Year-Old Woman Tests Positive Again

Bengaluru: In the first case of COVID-19 re-infection in Bengaluru, a 27-year-old woman has tested positive for the virus after being treated and discharged in July.

“Fortis Hospital, Banneghatta Road, has reported the first case of COVID re-infection,” said a hospital spokesperson.

She could be the first person to be re-infected in Karnataka as well. According to Om Prakash Patil, Director, Health and Family Welfare Services, nobody has so far reported re-infection in the state. “We will seek information from the districts,” he told IANS.

The woman had tested positive in July, when she had mild symptoms of cough and fever. She recovered without problem, as she does not have any comorbidity.

“However, in just over one month, it has been confirmed she has a COVID infection again,” said the hospital official, adding that this time, too, she has mild symptoms.

Mumbai reported its first case of re-infection two days ago, when a doctor working in a hospital in Sion tested positive for the second time.
