Another COVID-19 Patient In Odisha Recovers

Bhubaneswar: The first novel coronavirus patient has recovered and is being discharged from the Capital Hospital, the Health & Family Welfare Department tweeted on Friday.

Stating that active COVID-19 cases in the state now stand at three, the department congratulated the medical team of the government-run hospital.

So far, five persons in Odisha have tested positive for the virus and the second patient, who was undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, was discharged on April 1 after being fully cured of the disease.

The first patient, a 33-year-old of Badagada Britt Colony area in Bhubaneswar is studying Computer Science in Italy and doing a part-time job there.

After reaching Delhi from Italy on March 6, he was put in quarantine in New Delhi following a screening at the airport in which he showed no symptoms of COVID-19. He then boarded a train from New Delhi railway station and reached Bhubaneswar on March 12.

He reportedly developed COVID-19 symptoms on March 13 despite taking medicines prescribed by the doctors for flu. Following which, he went for a check-up at Capital Hospital on March 14 and was admitted to the isolation ward.

His blood and swab samples were sent to Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) in Bhubaneswar and the report received on March 15 night showed that he had contracted the virus.
