Jammu: Polling for the first phase of the elections to the District Development Councils (DDCs) in Jammu and Kashmir began on Saturday morning, news agency ANI reported.
This is the first-ever polls held in the Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370 last August.
Elections for the DDCs, which will be held in eight phases, will conclude on December 19 and the counting of votes will be held on December 22.
Bypolls for 234 vacant seats of Urban Local Bodies are also being held simultaneously.
