New Delhi: India’s first Physical National Yogasana Championship will be held at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar from November 11-13.
Over 500 athletes from across 30 states will participate in the event being organised by the National Yogasana Sports Federation (NYSF) in association with the Odisha government with an aim to create a global brand of Yogasana as a competitive sport.
“Yoga has become increasingly popular in recent years and is one of the most popular and trending forms of exercise in the world. We are confident that the championships organized by NYSF in Bhubaneswar will be a step forward in producing the next generation of world-class yogasana athletes,” said Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera.
Yogasana sport for both male and female categories has been included in Khelo India Youth Games, 2021.
“We are grateful for the unrelenting support of the Odisha government towards taking sport and Yogasana forward. At this championship, we are expecting to create a points and ranking system with a great competitions calendar for our athletes. Soon more exciting competition formats will be announced,” said NYSF president Udit Sheth.
