First Odia Colour Film Director Nagen Ray Passes Away

Bhubaneswar: Director of first Odia colour movie ‘Gapa Hele Bi Sata’
passed away at his residence in Shastri Nagar here on Thursday. He was
82.

Several eminent personalities from Ollywood industry have expressed
deep grief over Ray’s demise.

The movie ‘Gapa Hele Bi Sata’ was released in 1976 starring Banaja,
Sudharani, Harish, Suresh, Soudamini and Tanuja. The film is best
remembered for its melodious songs including ‘E Banara Chai’.

Another movie named ‘Tapasya’ was the last film directed by Ray. It
got released in 1980.
