Jagatsinghpur: A group of fishermen caught a huge fish weighing more than 110 kg in sea off the coast of Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday,
According to sources, the fishermen had gone for fishing in deep sea in a trawler from Paradip and cast their net on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, they found the huge fish in the net. On bringing it to the boat, they identified it as Telia Bhola fish which is a rare species that is found in the sea at this time of the year.
They took the fish that weighed more than 110 kg to Digha in West Bengal, which attracts big buyers from pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies, for sale. After auction, the Telia Bhola fish was sold for Rs 25,000 to a company.
It may be noted that the Telia Bhola fish has high demand among pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies for its medicinal and other values. Its maw is used for producing medicines for treatment of various diseases.
