Five Arrested For Vandalism At Congress Bhawan

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday arrested five persons in connection with the ransacking of Congress Bhawan over distribution of tickets for the upcoming elections in Odisha.

The five were arrested on the basis of CCTV footage and a manhunt is on to nab others involved in the incident which took place on Saturday night, police sources said.

Odisha Youth Congress members allegedly vandalised the party headquarters after Amir Mohammed was denied a ticket for the Ekamra-Bhubaneswar Assembly seat. The party is fielding Rashmirekha Mohapatra from the seat.

The agitating youths damaged tables, chairs and computers inside the party office and fled.

Following the incident, an FIR was also lodged at Capital police station.
