Bhubaneswar: Five persons were detained by Commissionerate Police in connection with gambling at a hotel in Nayapalli area of Bhubaneswar on Friday.
According to sources, police received a tip-off about a gambling racket operating from the hotel over the past few months.
On basis of the input, a team of Nayapalli police raided the premises and detained five people and incriminating material from their possession.
The hotel manager said that five to six people used to frequent the facility every week and one among them used to book the room.
“Their activities were not suspicious. We never realised that they were into gambling and using our hotel for the crime,” the manager said.
