Bhubaneswar: Five persons reportedly died due to sun stroke in Odisha on Friday.
In Balangir district, Debanand Sahu (60) of Badatika village in Agalpur block fell unconscious while shopping at Rugudikhala near Balangir-Sambalpur NH at around 1 pm. Locals rushed him to the community health centre (CHC) at Loisingha, where the doctors pronounced him ‘brought dead’.
In Puri, Surendra Kumar Ransingh (40), a ward member of Brahmagiri NAC, died on the way to the district headquarters hospital after he fell unconscious near Dudhwalla Dharmasala on the Bada Danda (Grand Road).
In Belabahali village of Keonjhar district, a man reportedly died of sunstroke while working on the rooftop of his house. The deceased has been identified as Dharanidhar Sahu.
Besides, an old man in Nuapada district died while collecting kendu leaves in Thakurpalli forest. Sambhu Prasad Dehuri of Laxmiprasad area of Boudh district was the other casualty.
