Five Drown To Death In Separate Mishaps In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Five drowning deaths have been reported from three districts of Odisha in the last two days.

The first incident was reported from Mayurbhanj district on Sunday, where five youths had gone to Lulung for a picnic. Two among them accidentally slipped into deep waters and drowned while taking bath at the scenic waterfall near Similipal.

On being informed, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of two individuals, identified as Ankit Kumar Bhujabal and Anshuman Nayak.

In a separate incident in Sundargarh district, one youth drowned in the Brahmani near Teterakela. He was swept away by the strong current while taking a bath in the river with his friends. His identity is yet to be confirmed.

Similarly, a young man and woman, who went missing the previous day, were found dead in the Jalaput reservoir near Lamtaput in Koraput district. Fire Service personnel conducted an extensive search and recovered both bodies after hours of effort. The deceased were from Banura and Bairapada villages under Padua police limits of Pottangi.

Police have begun a probe to ascertain the circumstances leading to their death.
