Five Houses ReducedTo Ashes In Cuttack Fire

Cuttack: Five houses belonging to three families at Padmanabhapur village were gutted in a devastating fire. The incident took place under Badamba police limits in Cuttack district late on Monday.

Locals said that the fire originated from one Sulochana Panda’s house while her family members were sleeping, and soon spread to the adjacent houses.

After being informed about the mishap, fire personnel from Badamba fire brigade office rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after an hour.

Though no injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, property worth lakhs including utensils, furniture, cash and other daily-use items were reduced to ashes.

An electrical short circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the incident, a fire official informed.
