Kalahandi/Bhubaneswar: Five persons were killed and 30 injured after a mini truck carrying them turned turtle on Bhawanipatna-Khariar road near Borda in Kalahandi district on Tuesday.
The accident took place at around 3 pm when the driver of the ill-fated vehicle applied brakes near a turning. The victims were returning to Raipur village after attending a marriage party. The truck driver truck is also among those killed, police said.
All the injured persons, including women, children and elderly persons, were rushed to Borda Hospital. Four of them were later shifted to Kalahandi district headquarters hospital after their health condition deteriorated.
However, Borda police and the locals suspect that overloading may have caused the accident.
