Malkangiri: Five persons were killed and seven others injured after their bus overturned in Alluri Sitarama Raju district near the Malkangiri-Andhra Pradesh border early Monday.
The accident took place near Bodugudam. The bus was enroute to Vijayawada. All the deceased were from Odisha.
Three passengers died on the spot, while two others succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Bhadrachalam in neighbouring Telangana.
Three of the deceased were identified as Dhaneswar Dalapati (24), Jeetu Harijan (5) and Nunena Harijan (2).
Passengers alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Police are investigating the case.
