Five Killed In Mass Shooting In Germany, Motive Not Clear

Germany mass shooting incident

Berlin: Five people were killed in a mass shooting incident in the northern German city

of Stade on Monday.

Two suspects, including the shooter, have been arrested, AFP reported.

Local media reported shots being fired randomly near a youth facility. A large-scale operation is currently being conducted outside the town centre.

“We ask you to leave the area and give it a wide berth for your own safety,” police said in a post on social media platform X.

The motive for the shooting in Stade, close to the port city of Hamburg, was not immediately clear.

Police are also trying to ascertain the role of the second individual in custody. No other suspects were at large, a police spokesperson said.

Unlike the United States, Germany has more restrictive gun laws, hence mass shootings are less frequent.
