Talcher: Tension prevailed in Talcher area of Odisha’s Angul district following the death of five persons, including a woman, and two minor girls, in two villages after they were attacked by a wild tusker late on Thursday.
According to reports, a wild tusker entered Sandha village late in the late night and attacked Kalia Saara (25), his daughter Anita (2) and sister Sarathi (12) while they were sleeping on the verandah of their house.
The animal also killed another woman Sunita (25) of the same village while she was asleep.
The tusker later left the village and entered Santhapada village, where it trampled Bhramarabar Samal (70) to death.
Following the incident, the irate people of these two villages staged a road blockade on Friday morning, demanding compensation to the family of the deceased. Following assurance by the Forest and police officials, the villagers later withdrew the blockade.
