Koraput: Five Maoists were gunned down in an exchange of fire with security personnel near Padua in the district on Wednesday.
Following information about presence of around 15 Maoists in a forest under the Padua police limits, SOG jawans launched a combing operation. Five rebels, including three women, were gunned down in the encounter, said Koraput SP KV Singh.
Three SLR and one INSAS rifles from the spot, informed ADG (Operation) RP Koche.
The operation against the outlawed outfit is still on.
